If you’ve ever clicked on a deal from Slickdeals and noticed the price was different or the coupon wasn’t there, you’re not alone. This is one of the most common questions we get, and we totally get how confusing and frustrating it can be.
The short answer: Retailers like Amazon, Walmart, and others don’t always show the exact same prices and coupons to every customer.
Here’s why.
1. Some Coupons Are Targeted to Select Accounts
Amazon, for example, frequently offers coupons that are only available to certain customers. These are called targeted coupons, and they’re distributed based on Amazon’s own internal factors, which may include things like:
Shopping history
Account activity
Purchase patterns
Promotions Amazon is running for specific customer groups
EDU/EPP/Military etc
This means one member may see a coupon that brings the price down significantly, while another member looking at the same item won’t see that coupon at all.
2. Some Coupons Are One-Time Use Only
Another common scenario is when a coupon was available but has already been used.
Many retailers offer coupons limited to one use per account, especially category-wide promotions like:
“Save 40% on select household items”
“Save $10 on select electronics”
“Save 20% on your first purchase in this category”
Once used, the coupon disappears from that account, even though it may still be available to others.
So while the deal is still active, it may no longer apply to someone who already used that promotion previously.
3. Prices Can Vary by Location and Warehouse Availability
Pricing can also vary depending on where you live.
This happens because Amazon uses a network of warehouses across the country, and pricing can be influenced by factors like:
Inventory availability at nearby warehouses
Shipping distance and logistics
Regional supply and demand
As a result, a member in one state may see a slightly different price than someone in another state for the exact same item.
This is normal and part of many retailers dynamic pricing system. Though I know we all wish the deals were available to everyone at the same time.
4. Why These Deals Are Still Posted on Slickdeals
When a deal is shared and posted in Hot Deals, it means the deal was verified and working at the time it was posted.
However, because retailers controls pricing, coupons, and targeting (and those can vary between accounts) not every deal will work for every single person.
That doesn’t mean the deal is dead. It just means merchant isn’t offering the same promotion to that particular account.
In most cases, the deal is still working for many other members.
5. What You Can Try If a Coupon or Price Doesn’t Appear
If a deal isn’t showing correctly for you, here are a few things worth trying:
Make sure you’re logged into your account (Walmart, Amazon, etc)
Check if the coupon box appears on the product page
Try viewing the deal in a different browser or device
Confirm the item is sold by the same seller listed in the deal (if mentioned)
Even with these steps, some offers may still be account-specific or previously used.
6. Slickdeals Doesn’t Control Amazon’s Pricing or Coupons
Slickdeals members and staff share deals exactly as they appear but the merchant ultimately controls:
Pricing
Coupon availability
Targeting
Regional differences
Trust us, we know it can be frustrating when a deal doesn’t work personally, but these differences are entirely on the retailer's side.
Our goal is always to share the best deals available and thanks to our community, thousands of members benefit from deals every day.
