Deals get promoted to be a Frontpage Deal when they garner lots of interest from the community in the form of votes and other positive feedback. Our team of expert Deal Editors validate these popular deals by researching:
- Price history
- Customer reviews
- Expert reviews
- Availability
- Inventory
If everything checks out, the deal is then promoted to be a Frontpage Deal displayed on the Slickdeals home page.
When this happens, a Deal Editor authors a new post highlighting key points or items for the deal. When viewing a Frontpage Deal post, the original post can still be viewed by scrolling below the Deal Editor's Frontpage post and clicking the down arrow next to "Original Post".
Why do some deals with a lot of votes not become Frontpage Deals?
There are several reasons why a popular deal may not be promoted to a Frontpage Deal. Here are a few examples:
- The product/service may be limited in availability. Some deals are region-specific, or limited in inventory.
- The deal might require price-matching from retail associates, which usually carries an uncertain outcome. These will typically be labeled as YMMV, which is short for "Your mileage may vary".
- The post may be a PSA (public service announcement), announcing a price drop or a policy change, but not necessarily offering a deal.
